Kim and Glen’s Fun-filled Summer Wedding
This happy couple enjoyed a fabulous three day summer wedding at Manor Mews. With great music, delicious food and plenty of fun and games, it was a celebration to delight.
Kim and Glen were on the lookout for the perfect wedding venue for their August wedding – somewhere with a relaxed, romantic atmosphere where they could host a fabulous party. As soon as they came across Manor Mews, they knew their search was over.
“We looked at each other and knew it was ‘the one’. The fairy lights around the beams looked so romantic. We are big party animals so as soon as we saw the overnight accommodation, we decided our wedding would be a three day event with a ‘Sports Day’ on the Sunday!” KIM
Focusing on a dusky pink colour scheme, the happy couple married in front of a hexagonal frame, adorned with beautiful flowers and candles. Tables featured floral centrepieces, while the Perspex table plan also featured pretty blooms. Finally, the deconstructed wedding cake was presented on a pasting table.
“One tier was a drip cake, one was a marble cake, and the last featured an ombre effect. The flavours were white chocolate and raspberry, salted caramel and chocolate and lime and coconut. They were so delicious.” KIM
Talented florist, Alicia, at Lily Jane Florist, was also one of Kim’s bridesmaids, so flowers played an important role in this special day. Tall and short table centres featured herbs, plants and cascading flowers and flowers included dahlias, white sweet peas, carnations and Astrantia.
“Alicia chose a rose called ‘Bridesmaid’ which was very appropriate! She did an amazing job – it literally brought tears to my eyes. The amount of time and effort she put in was clear to see.” KIM
“It was the fourth boutique I had been to and I was starting to lose hope! As soon as I walked in, I knew I would find my dress. The detailing on the dress was a bit different which I really liked, and the straps and the train were stunning too.” KIM
She completed the look with a tear drop necklace and nude shoes with gems on the heels from Miss KG by Kurt Geiger.
“I love a good dance so I knew the heels couldn’t be too high!” KIM
Meanwhile, Glen and his groomsmen looked the part in chequered navy suits from Slaters, accessorising with pale blue ties and tan brogues.
Finally, Kim’s four bridesmaids looked gorgeous in pleated, dusky pink gowns from TFNC, with personalised bracelets that were a gift from the bride.
Following their romantic ceremony in the barn at Manor Mews, the newlyweds and their guests moved into the garden for the drinks reception.
Moving back inside to dine, a delicious, informal menu started with tomato and red pepper soup with sausage and mash for main course and, for pudding, chocolate torte.
As day turned to evening, the newlyweds danced their first dance to an acoustic version of ‘Came Here for Love’ by Sigala. With music playing an important role in the day, DJ ‘NSL Audio’ filled the dance floor with a great playlist.
“I’m into heavy rock and Glen likes old school cheese so the DJ had a tough job on his hands. He played the perfect mix for us – it wasn’t your average music for a wedding!” KIM
Pulled pork baps with chips proved the perfect choice for evening dining and, as the happy couple and their guests danced the night away, they could relax in the knowledge that they had another day of fun ahead of them!
“Towards the end of our first dance, our closest friends and some of our family joined in and huddled with us, it was such an emotional moment, and I had tears of joy, thinking how lucky we are.”
“As a festival lover, it was pretty amazing when everyone picked me up and had me crowd surfing! The buzz I got from that was amazing.”
Advice from the Happy Couple
“Be organised, book everything early and write everything down. Instagram was my saviour, I searched for Norfolk Wedding, and found lots of local suppliers. Ask your suppliers for recommendations too. My florist basically told me the best of everything!”
